Merry Christmas~2007 Update

We are all excited about Christmas! Ben will come home from California on the 15th of December, and Kelsie will be home from BYU on the 19th.
After Christmas we hope to go to Arizona and spend some time with Haylie and Jared, and their little ones Rylie and Colt! We are looking forward to some family time together!
Everyone has been so busy, that we have not had much time to be together:
Ben has been doing an internship for his Uncle Doug (Critchfield), in California, for the last 5 months, and we have missed him terribly! He has been very busy working and also helping them to remodel their garage into a family room! He will head back to BYU I this Winter.
Kelsie has had a grueling semester at BYU, taking organic chemistry, bio-chemistry, and other hard to pronounce classes! She is sooo smart! What a girl!
Carly just finished performing in the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, (she was Muzzy), and competing in the Idaho State Drama Competition, (she made it to semi-finals in 2 events!) She is looking forward to a quieter winter semester...she will participate in All State Choir, and then graduate in February.
Kaden is working hard in middle school. He has grown and grown and grown, and stands about 5'5" or 5'6". His voice is changing and he sounds so much like Ben!
Kyle is in fourth grade and doing great! He will play basketball after Christmas and cannot wait!
Zoie is in first grade and she continues to be sweet and cuddly! What would we do without our Zoie to give us loves every day?
Kel is still teaching seminary, but he also teaches an institute class at ISU. He is on the high council, so his life is BUSY!
And me...well, I am still teaching Kindergarten half a day, and running hard to keep up with everyone. I hope to finish college coursework for my gifted and talented endorsement soon.
Life is good!

Canoe trip 2007
The family went on a whitewater canoe trip down the Onieda Narrows in Preston, Idaho, just an hour from home. It has a little bit of whitewater, but nothing very technical. Kelly had taken the scouts down the river many times while they were earning the canoe merit badge. The big kids went first and then Kelly, Zoie, and I piled in our old yellow canoe. The yellow canoe sits really low in the water and is very stable so we thought it would be great for Zoie but....what we didn't realize was that as soon as the water came over the bow, it could easily swamp the canoe! The canoe started to sink and all of us just floated out. Kelly grabbed Zoie and headed for the side. I snagged the paddles and Zoie's favorite flip flops, but the canoe floated to the other side of the river. I didn't worry too much because Ben, Kaden, and Kyle were down the river a bit in another canoe, waiting for us, so I thought they could grab the canoe. I was pretty shook up because of Zoie being with us, but we all had life jackets and really were in no danger. We climbed up the bank, walked down the road a little and then looked out on the river to find the canoe. It was wrapped around a rock in the middle of the river. It was bent in half. We had had that canoe our whole married life, and now it was gone AND in a place that we couldn't even pull it out! At that point I cried. When the water is low again I guess we will go and resuce our poor, old, broken canoe!

The Washington Coast
We had the Chandler Family Reunion at Ocean Shores. We had all of our children there along with Rylie and Colt. We flew kites, played in the sand and the water and had a wonderful time!

Christmas Plans....

We are looking forward to having EVERYONE home for Christmas! Jared and Haylie always enjoy coming home to snow, even though Haylie always freezes.
Family is the most important thing in life, and we wish your family a joyous season!

Here are a few of our favorite Christmas quotes:
Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. ~Calvin Coolidge
I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. ~Charles Dickens
Carly is a freshman at BYU in Provo. She is loving school and doing very well! We are looking forward to having her home for the holidays!

Kaden is a freshman in HS this year. He played varsity soccer for the school and is also involved with drama and music.

Kyle is in fifth grade and liking school! He played soccer in the fall and has been practicing wrestling, with with the middle school, and freestyle wrestling will begin in February. I hate it but he LOVES it!

Zoie is in second grade and she has been reading all the Junie B. Jones books she can get her hands on. She loves her gymnastics class and drives us crazy practicing cartwheels!!

Benjamin's Wedding Album

Kelsie and Alan Potts

My kids think that it is so funny that Kelsie is now Mrs. Potts! Kelsie and Alan will be attending Idaho State University this Winter. That will put them in Pocatello...only half an hour away! We are excited! Kelsie is finishing up her pre-requisites for the nursing program, and Alan hopes to become a seminary teacher.
